There I was, minding my own business on Instagram*, hating everyone’s pets, blah blah… I kept getting hung up on this guy’s posts. Dynamite taste in subject matter, draws like a dream, mastery of materials (pencil, ink, gouache, 1 shot, etc), you get the idea. “Liking” his posts wasn’t enough, so I told Mats he should start liking them, too.
OF COURSE WE ENDED UP MAKING STINCKERS
SO HOW COME WE DIDN’T KNOW THIS GUY ALREADY? Johnny Sampson (b.1974) lives in the Chicago suburbs with his wife and two children. He is an artist, illustrator, and cartoonist, and sometimes all three at the same time. His work has been published by the likes of Pitchfork, Vice, The New York Times, Mother Jones, and Lucky Peach. He likes freaking out the squares, sticking it to the man, and long walks on the beach. He is thrilled to join the Stincker family of “World Famous Cartoonists”, but thinks the “blood in, blood out” rule is a little extreme.
